FT Airfoil Glider 2-Pack Perfect for Educators and Families

Students will learn proper build techniques to build two operational gliders with airfoils.
Students will learn the concepts of Center of Gravity, glide slope, Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion, and Bernoulli’s principle of lift.
To understand and demonstrate what constitutes a proper glider slope. Students will learn the concept of wing aspect ratio, how to calculate a simplified wing aspect ratio, and how differences in aspect ratio affect flight performance.
Students will use the Engineering Design Model (EDM) as a framework for creating a solution to a design challenge around the FT Wonder Glider and/or FT Sparrow.
Students will document the EDM process using a Level 1 Design Brief.
Students will understand that the FT Design Brief as a problem-solving framework can be used to solve problems across content areas.
REQUIREMENTS
Paper strips, about 2x11 inches, one for each student
Hot glue gun, glue sticks, and adhesive tape
If you intend to use our Build Videos instead of the included printed materials, a computer/smartphone with internet access.
Scratch paper and pencil
Cardboard or work mat (to keep hot glue off the table or work surface)
Utility knives
For Design Challenges: blank foam board, at least 2 20x30 inch foamboard sheets per student or student group or other materials depending on the design challenge chosen.
